Glynn Key of Chattanooga Named Associate Solicitor For General Law and Counselor to the Secretary

Glynn D. Key has been appointed Associate Solicitor for General Law and Counselor to the Secretary, it wasannounced today by Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt.

"I am exceptionally pleased that Glynn has accepted this new challenge," Babbitt said. "She has a fine legal mine,and an impressive array of management and advocacy skills that will serve the Department well."

Ms. Key joined the Interior Department in August 1993, as Special Assistant to Secretary Babbitt. Before that, sheworked as an attorney with the Washington, D.C. law office of Covington & Burling, where she specialized inantitrust, environmental, and international arbitration.

A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Glynn Key received both her law degree (1989) and B.A. (1986) from theUniversity of Virginia. While in law school, she served as Senior Editor of the Journal of Law & Politics and on theExecutive Board of the Black Law Students Association.

As the Associate Solicitor for General Law and Counselor to the Secretary, Ms. Key serves as primary legal counselfor the Department on a full range of legal issues such as, ethics, intellectual property, contracts/procurement,employment and administrative law. As Counselor to the Secretary, she will be handling special policy matters forSecretary Babbitt.
