FWS DIRECTOR STEVE WILLIAMS HOLDS MEDIA
TELECONFERENCE TO DISCUSS KLAMATH FISH DIE-OFF

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Steve Williams will hold a media teleconference at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, to discuss the recent die-off of salmon, steelhead and other fish in the lower Klamath River.

Williams will provide reporters with the latest scientific information and will outline steps the Fish and Wildlife Service and other federal agencies will take to determine the cause of the die-off.

Reporters also will be provided with a copy of a memo Williams sent today to the Klamath Basin Federal Working Group.
