Lynn Scarlett will join tribal leaders and representatives of the Greenstar program in New Mexico's To'hajiilee community to participate in a series of activities in conjunction with the World Summit on Sustainable Development, currently underway in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event, set for Saturday, August 31, 2002, will include the demonstration of a new partnership forged between the Department, the tribe and Greenstar to promote economic development in Indian Country. Scarlett, who handles policy, management and budget for the Department, will be available for media questions immediately following the ceremony. Who: Lynn Scarlett, Assistant Secretary of the Interior What: Scarlett will join tribal leaders and Greenstar representatives to hear the oldest living Navajo Code Talker present the history and traditions of his trade, which will be transmitted to a group in South Africa via the Internet later that evening.
