
For Immediate Release: May 22, 2002 Contact: John Wright 202-208-4396 Satellite Television Uplink of Adoption of the Implementation Plan for the 10-Year Comprehensive Strategy for Reducing Wildland Fire Risks A satellite uplink featuring B-roll footage of the signing of the Implementation Plan for reducing wildland fire risks will be made available for downlink Thursday, May 23, 2002, at 3:30 p.m. (MDT). The document will be signed by Governor Dirk Kempthorne of Idaho and Governor John Kitzhaber of Oregon, representing the Western Governor's Association, and Interior Secretary Gale Norton and Secretary of Agriculture Ann M. Veneman, representing the federal government. The uplink will include footage of treated and untreated areas to help illustrate the difference and the importance of the Implementation Plan. The uplink will be available for downlink at 3:30 p.m. (MDT). The satellite television uplink will run approximately 15 minutes and will be fed twice. It will include a short script, footage of the signing ceremony, raw footage of wildfire behavior and brief interview segments with: Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, Idaho Gov. John Kitzhaber, Oregon Gov.
