EVERGLADES TASK FORCE TO HOLD MEETING IN WASHINGTON
WASHINGTON - The South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force will meet in Washington on Thursday, Mar. 21, at the Interior Department.
"The Task Force is playing a critical role in coordinating Everglades restoration and in discussing significant issues for all parties, including the Army's development of the programmatic regulations," said Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton. "Holding this meeting in Washington underscores the commitment of the Administration and the Interior Department to the restoration effort."
The Task Force consists of representatives from federal, state, local and tribal governments. Its mission is to facilitate cooperation among all Everglades stakeholders to restore, protect, and preserve the Everglades and South Florida ecosystem while providing a sustainable water supply for South Floridians.
This will be the fourth meeting of the Task Force in 2002 and the first in Washington. The meeting is open to the public.
