and Commissioner for Bureau of Reclamation John Keys.That has begun to change, and here behind me, you see the sequel. "Home Alone, No More." Finally, three weeks ago, the Senate confirmed the Department's first nominee - Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Neal McCaleb.
Last Thursday, the Senate confirmed our new Deputy Secretary, Steve Griles; Assistant Secretary for Water and Science, Bennett Raley; Director for National Park Service, Fran Mainella; Commissioner for Bureau of Reclamation, John Keyes; Assistant Secretary for Policy Management and Budget, Lynn Scarlett; and Solicitor, William Myers.
Lynn and William are at home wrapping things up but will be here next week.
I have in place the beginnings of an outstanding leadershipteam. Each one of them brings extraordinary talent and experience to this Department.
I am excited about the work we are going to do. I know each these individuals behind me share the same philosophy as I do - communicating, collaborating and cooperating with all people - all in the service of conservation.
We are here to be excellent stewards of our land and to serve the American people by protecting our natural resources for future generations. I am honored to be working with such a distinguished group of leaders.
The past six and a half months have been very rewarding, and I've had a tremendous amount of help. I especially want to note the terrific job done by our career employees.
They have worked side-by-side with us since our arrival and our accomplishments have come as a result of their support.
Thanks to their knowledge, insight and hard work, the Interior Department is ready to meet the challenges ahead.
In the days and weeks ahead, we'll be making more announcements of the final nominees for leadership positions at the Department. For now, we're ready to get the show on the road and be home alone no longer.
Behind me to my right is the White House. Directly behind me is the U.S. Capitol. And right here - at the Department of the Interior - we're ready to roll up our shirt sleeves and go to work for the people of America.
