GLICKMAN, BABBITT TO RELEASE NEW DATA
SHOWING SHARP DECLINE IN LOSS OF WETLANDS

WASHINGTON, January 8, 2001 -- Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman and Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt will release new data on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 that show a dramatic decline in the loss of precious U.S. wetlands to development over the past decade. The data will be released and discussed at a press conference at 2:00 p.m. in Room 7000 of the Interior Department headquarters.
