ARRANGEMENTS FOR MEETING OF P5 AT FOREIGN MINISTERS’ LEVEL

GENEVA, 10 September (UN Information Service) -- The Foreign Ministers of the five permanent members of the Security Council, the “P5”, Li Zhaoxing, China; Dominique de Villepin, France; Sergei Ivanov, Russian Federation; Jack Straw, United Kingdom; and Colin Powell, United States of America, will hold a meeting with the Secretary-General on Saturday, 13 September in the Council Chamber of the Palais des Nations on the subject of Iraq.� The meeting should last from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.


The Information Service has made the following arrangements for the press:


Accreditation


Requests for accreditation can be sent by fax to the office of the Director of the Information Service on fax: 00 41 22 917 0030 starting Wednesday, 10 September.� The requests should include copies of a letter from the media on a letterhead and signed by the Editor-in-Chief, as well as a copy of the passport and a copy of the press card for each person.� The badges can be picked up on Friday, 12 September, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Security and Safety Service, Villa Les Feuillantines, located at 13 Avenue de la Paix, across the street from the Palais des Nations.� The badges can also be picked up from the Security and Safety Service on Saturday, 13 September, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.� The badges will only be valid for Saturday.


Arrival of Delegations


The Foreign Ministers will be welcomed at door 4 by Sergei Ordzhonikidze, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva shortly before 2 p.m.� Television crews and photographers will be able to cover the arrivals.


Conditions and Restrictions


-- All correspondents are required to wear their badges of accreditation to gain entry into the building.


-- Please direct all queries on coverage of the meeting to the Information Service, telephone number 00 41 22 917 2302.


-- Entry into the building will be allowed only through doors 23 and 11 and only those coming on foot.


-- No entry will be allowed through doors 4 and 6.


-- The press parking area outside door 23 will be closed for security reasons.� Journalists are advised to park elsewhere on the grounds of the Palais des Nations on Saturday.� Please note that cars left in the press parking after Friday will be removed.


-- The Press Bar will be open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the convenience of the journalists and staff covering the P5 meeting.


-- Room V will be reserved as a special area for visiting journalists.� Please note that pre-paid telephone cards will be required to use fax machines.


Press encounters


-- A pool photo-op is foreseen at the start of the meeting at 2.00 p.m.


-- A press conference will follow after the meeting in Room III.


Radio


Subject to availability, radio journalists may book production facilities in the United Nations Radio Studio located between Door 4 and Door 6 on the ground floor from 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, 13 September.


Transmission facilities by web-transfer and ISDN telephone line are available at user's costs.
