In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the President of the United Nations Security Council and Chairman of the Military Staff Committee for December:

Security Council

Moctar Ouane, Permanent Representative of Mali, succeeds Mignonette Patricia Durrant, Permanent Representative of Jamaica, as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Air Vice Marshall John H. Thompson (United Kingdom) succeeds Lieutenant General Anatoly I. Meleshkov (Russian Federation) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
