In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the President of the United Nations Security Council and Chairman of the Military Staff Committee for October:

Security Council

Richard Ryan, Permanent Representative of Ireland, succeeds Jean-David Levitte, Permanent Representative of France, as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Major General Daniel Bastien (France) succeeds Major General Chen Fuyuan (China) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
