NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN MARCH

In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for March:

Security Council

Volodymyr Yu. Yel’chenko (Ukraine) succeeds Saïd Ben Mustapha (Tunisia) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Lieutenant General John P. Abizaid (United States) succeeds Air Vice-Marshall John H. Thompson (United Kingdom) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
