ASSEMBLY CONDEMNS MISUSE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES FOR CRIMINAL PURPOSES CORRECTION 20001205In Press Release GA/9842 of 4 December, the opening sentence of page 1f should read as follows: Action was deferred on a resolution concerning the critical situation of the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women. On page 23, the remarks by the representative of the Dominican Republic should read as follows: The representative of the Dominican Republic said that her delegation regretted having to postpone taking a decision on the resolution on the critical situation of the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women. Her delegation felt that on the basis of operative paragraph 6, the institution would be provided with resources so that it could continue activities through 2001. It was also regrettable that the resolution had been presented without taking into account rule 153 of General Assembly procedure. She hoped that an omission of that kind would not be repeated in the future. [Rule 153 states that no resolution involving expenditure shall be recommended by a committee for approval by the General Assembly unless it is accompanied by an estimate of expenditures prepared by the Secretary-General. No resolution in respect of which expenditures are anticipated by the Secretary- General shall be voted by the General Assembly until the Administrative and Budgetary Committee (Fifth Committee) has had an opportunity of stating the effect of the proposal upon the budget estimates of the United Nations.] * *** * United Nations
