NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN SEPTEMBER

In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are the new Chairmen of the United Nations security bodies for September:

Security Council

Moctar Ouane (Mali) succeeds Hasmy Agam (Malaysia) as President of the Security Council

Military Staff Committee

Air Vice-Marshal John H. Thompson (United Kingdom) succeeds Lieutenant General Anatoly I. Meleshkov (Russian Federation) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
