NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS QUEEN MARGRETHE II OF DENMARK TO VISIT HEADQUARTERS 1 NOVEMBER

At 11:15 a.m. Monday, 1 November, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark will arrive at United Nations Headquarters, where she will be received at the Secretariat Entrance by Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Mrs. Annan.

They will proceed to the thirty-eighth floor, first to the Conference Room adjacent to the Secretary-General�s office, then to the Secretary-General�s office, where the Queen will confer with the Secretary-General and Mrs. Annan.

Following the meeting, the Queen and Mrs. Annan, escorted by the Acting Chief of Protocol, will proceed to the second floor, where Mrs. Annan will offer the Queen a brief tour of Headquarters, giving special attention to the art collection on display on the second floor. The tour will also include the different Chambers and the General Assembly Hall, the Chagal window, the bust of Count Bernadotte, the Meditation Room and, weather permitting, the gifts from Italy and Luxembourg outside the Visitors Lobby.

After the tour, the Queen will leave Headquarters at the Visitors Entrance.

At 1:15 p.m. the Queen will arrive at the Secretary-General�s residence to attend a luncheon hosted in her honour by the Secretary- General and Mrs. Annan.
