PREVENTION OF VIOLENT DISINTEGRATION OF STATES CALLED FOR IN FIRST COMMITTEE DRAFT TEXT

In Press Release GA/DIS/3074 issued 15 November, the second paragraph on page 12 should read:

The representative of Algeria said that all States were required to respect the Charter in prohibiting the use of force, preventing conflicts and avoiding intervention in domestic conflicts. However, the principle of self- determination was obscured by the draft, which contained legal imbalances that he could not endorse. The First Committee might not be the place for consideration of the draft.
