ARMS RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED ON RWANDA GOVERNMENT ENDED, MEASURES REMAIN AGAINST NON-GOVERNMENTAL FORCES 19960911The following statement was issued by the Chairman of Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 918 (1994) concerning Rwanda: In accordance with paragraph 8 of Security Council resolution 1011 (1995) of 16 August 1995, the restrictions imposed by paragraph 13 of resolution 918 (1994) on the sale or supply of arms and related mat�riel to the Government of Rwanda were terminated effective 1 September. In this regard no notifications are required to be submitted by States of exports from their territories of arms or related mat�riel to the Government of Rwanda or by the Government of Rwanda of imports of arms and related mat�riel. However, the above restrictions remain in effect against Rwanda, with a view to prohibiting the sale and supply of arms and related mat�riel to non- governmental forces for use in Rwanda, and all States shall continue to prevent the sale or supply, by their nationals or from their territories or using their flag vessels or aircraft, of arms and related mat�riel of all types, including weapons and ammunition, military vehicles and equipment, paramilitary police equipment and spare parts, to such non-governmental forces in Rwanda, or to persons in the States neighbouring Rwanda if such sale or supply is for the purpose of the use of such arms or mat�riel within Rwanda. * *** * United Nations
