SECRETARY-GENERAL DEPLORES EXECUTION OF NIGERIAN MINORITY-RIGHTS ACTIVISTS 19951110The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary- General Boutros Boutros-Ghali:The Secretary General was shocked and appalled to learn of the execution by hanging of nine Nigerian minority-rights activists, including the writer Ken Saro-Wiwa. The Secretary-General deplores this act carried out in defiance of the efforts and numerous appeals from the international community and all friends of Nigeria. The Secretary-General urges the Government of Nigeria to abide by its international obligations and to fully respect the rights of minorities in the country. * *** *
