FIVE MORE COUNTRIES ADMITTED TO FAO ON OPENING DAY OF ITS GOVERNING CONFERENCE, BRINGING MEMBERSHIP TO 174 NATIONS
19951020ROME, 20 October (FAO) -- Five countries became members of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) today, bringing the Organization's membership to 174 nations.
During the opening day of its 11-day session, the FAO Governing Conference approved the applications of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
The FAO now has 174 member States, plus the European Community as a member organization, and Puerto Rico as an associate member.
