
Consumers Flock To Realtor.Com For The Most Listings On The Web 6/26/2002

This is a 23 percent increase over May last year, when REALTOR.com attracted 3.6 million unique users. Last month's data from Media Metrix also indicated that visitors looked at 54.9 pages and spent an average of 40.3 minutes on the site during the month. Nearly 179 million minutes total were logged on REALTOR.com in May, according to the monthly report. Another leading ratings organization, Nielsen/NetRatings, reported that REALTOR.com attracted 4.62 million unique users in May. It reported that each unique user spent an average of 30.8 minutes looking at 64 pages on the site in May. By the end of the month, more than 142.6 million total minutes had been registered on the site, nearly five times more than the competition. According to a special study of the site's traffic conducted in April, REALTOR.com's real estate listings attracted more than 4.57 million individuals, approximately 14 times more traffic than its competition. "In contrast, the independent Media Metrix research indicates that REALTOR.com's closest competitor only received 331,000 unique viewers to the real estate portion of its Web site in April 2002," said NAR President Martin Edwards Jr., a partner in Colliers Wilkinson & Snowden Inc., Memphis, Tenn. "That's only 8 percent of its overall traffic." "Consumers are clearly using REALTOR.com as their main resource when looking at listed homes for sale online," said REALTOR.com President Steve Ozonian. "Our internal reports show that REALTOR.com's 'Find a Home' function logged more than 242 million page views in May." REALTOR.com, operated by Homestore Inc., is the official Web site of the National Association of Realtors(r). Ranked as the No. 1 homes-for-sale site, REALTOR.com currently offers a potential homebuyer nearly 2 million homes listed for sale as well as the most brokers and agents to contact. The site also provides home sellers with the Internet's largest marketplace to reach millions of potential viewers.
