Historic Shipwreck Confirmed In NOAA's Stellwagen Bank Sanctuary

News Advisory:

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will announce results and make underwater images available from shipwreck investigations within NOAA's Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.

A joint mission, co-sponsored by NOAA's Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary and the National Undersea Research Center (NURC) at the University of Connecticut, recently returned to Boston Harbor after exploring various deep shipwrecks. The video and side-scan images from the cruise provide significant visual documentation that will be revealed.

WHAT: NOAA will announce shipwreck findings of historical significance. NOAA officials will present underwater video documentation and results from recent shipwreck investigations off New England's coast.

WHO: NOAA's National Marine Sanctuary Program and NURC scientists and researchers.
