
Bioscience Publishes New Study on Nitrogen Pollution: Scientists Hold National Press Club Briefing - April 15 at 9:30 a.m. 4/14/2003

The study reveals the leading causes of nitrogen pollution to forests and coastal waters in the Northeast, describes the effects of nitrogen pollution, and evaluates possible solutions. The study was conducted by a team of 12 scientists affiliated with the Hubbard Brook Research Foundation in Hanover, New Hampshire. "In clear and decisive terms, this report confirms the need for cuts in nitrogen oxides similar to those outlined in the multi-pollutant bill if we want to see healthier people and ecosystems in the next 50 years," said Senator James Jeffords (I-VT), ranking member of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee."
