
IRIS Independent Research President Rebecca Grant to Address Rotary Club of Los Angeles 2/25/2004
From: Ladd Everitt of The Air Force Association, 703-247-5847 or leveritt@afa.org News Advisory: Dr. Rebecca Grant will be the guest speaker at a Rotary Club of Los Angeles luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27. The Rotary Club will conduct the event at the City Club on Bunker Hill in downtown Los Angeles, located at 333 S. Grand Avenue (in the Wells Fargo Bank building). Grant will present a "Look Back on Iraq" and examine the role of airpower before, during, and after Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is the president of IRIS Independent Research in Washington, D.C., and a fellow of the Eaker Institute for Aerospace Concepts, the public policy and research arm of the Air Force Association's Aerospace Education Foundation-an affiliate of the Air Force Association. AEF is dedicated to ensuring America's aerospace excellence through public awareness programs, education and financial assistance. Grant is also a contributing editor to Air Force Magazine, the journal of the Air Force Association. Her professional research interests center on joint doctrine and airpower employment in joint campaigns. Recent IRIS Independent Research projects include an analysis of air and space power during the second Gulf War, a study on the F-22, and a report on innovation processes in the Department of Defense. Grant is the author of The Afghan Air War (2002), The B- 2 Goes to War (2001) and The Radar Game (1999), as well as several magazine articles on aspects of aerospace power. Previously, she worked in the operations group of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and also for the Secretary of the Air Force. Her portfolio included strategic force reductions, bomber programs, assessing logistics costs and the Air Force Roles and Missions project of 1994. She began her career with the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, California. Trained in the field of international relations, Grant received a B.A. from Wellesley College in 1985 and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics, University of London in 1989. She currently lives in Washington, D.C.
