Secretary of Energy, Secretary of Commerce Unveil Strategic Plan for Climate Change Science Initiatives

News Advisory:

On Thursday, July 24, Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham and Commerce Secretary Don Evans will release the Climate Change Science Program's (CCSP) strategic plan. The strategic plan describes the research activities to be undertaken by 13 agencies and departments of the federal government to determine the causes and effects of natural and human-induced global climate change.

The CCSP was established in 2002 to address the growing concern of climate change. Abraham and Evans are co-chairs of the Committee on Climate Change Science and Technology Integration, which oversees the CCSP. The strategic plan was developed in response to President Bush's charge to study areas of uncertainty and set priorities where climate science investments can make a difference.
