CAHI Offers Solutions for the Uninsured -- One Solution a Day During 'Cover the Uninsured Week' 3/7/2003
From: Tom Gardner of the Council for Affordable Healthcare, 703-836-6200 ext. 386 ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 7 -- Next week is Cover the Uninsured Week. While the Council for Affordable Health Insurance (CAHI) believes it is important to show the plight of the uninsured, we also need solutions -- and we need them now. This is why, starting next week, CAHI will announce one solution a day during Cover the Uninsured Week. Each one of these solutions, if enacted, would help the uninsured gain health insurance coverage. If all were enacted, the number of uninsured would plummet due to increased access to affordable health insurance. "CAHI applauds the efforts of those participating in Cover the Uninsured Week," stated CAHI Director Merrill Matthews. "The uninsured are frequently overlooked, and bringing attention to their situation can be very helpful. However, while bringing attention to the uninsured is good, providing solutions is better. And decreasing the number of uninsured by increasing access to affordable health insurance is the best solution yet." ------ Editors: To schedule an interview with CAHI Director Merrill Matthews contact Tom Gardner, director of communications, at 703-836-6200 ext. 386 or tgardner@cahi.org CAHI is a research and advocacy association of insurance carriers active in the individual, small group, MSA, and senior markets.
