In advance of Congress's return from recess, tomorrow a coalition of at least 24 organizations plans to challenge lawmakers to roll up their sleeves and find a fiscally responsible alternative to the proposed Medicare prescription drug benefit. Among those leading the charge is the 350,000-member National Taxpayers Union (NTU), which will release a fact-packed Policy Paper from its research arm that pinpoints the dire consequences to taxpayers and the economy of the current plan before Congress.
