NSC Presents Three Important Media Events in San Diego 10/4/2002
From: Joe Larkin of the National Safety Council, 630-775-2303 News Advisory: The National Safety Council (NSC) will present three important media events during its 90th Annual Congress & Expo to be held at the San Diego Convention Center, Oct. 4-11. The events listed below touch the very heart of the safety and health movement in America. The first event, which takes place directly following the Hispanic Forum, makes NSC's President Alan C. McMillan and Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health John Henshaw available to the media for questions and answers about the Hispanic Forum, which focuses on building the capacity of Hispanic community-based and Hispanic-serving organizations in ways that equip them to address the safety, health and environmental protection needs of Hispanics in the U.S. and Latin America, or on occupational safety and health issues. The second event is a press conference to announce that Medtronic Physio-Control and the National Safety Council are making it easy for workplaces and institutions to deploy and train people to use Automated External Defibrillators. AEDs save lives when used early. However, AEDs need to be readily available throughout communities and workplaces. Here's a chance to learn from Jon Tremmel, President, Medtronic Physio-Control, and Ted Borek, NSC Executive Vice President, how Medtornic and NSC plan to make this possible. The third event is also a press conference featuring NSC President and CEO Alan McMillan introducing an innovative and comprehensive Safety Management System based on extensive research to meet or exceed the requirements all safety, health and environmental standards. It is the most complete system available and the only system that gives equal consideration to the administrative, operational and technical, and behavioral issues necessary for a comprehensive system. This system is a giant leap forward to a more unified and comprehensive approach to managing safety both on and off the job.
