The Coalition for Improved Bladder and Related Pelvic Health will host its inaugural speaker's breakfast on Tuesday, March 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Willard Hotel in Washington, DC. This event will be held to announce the formation of the coalition and to announce how the it will collectively work to increase scientific research and promote improved care for women suffering from incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Invited speakers include The Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee (D-18th, TX); The Honorable Nancy L. Johnson (R-5th, CT); Wanda Jones, Dr. P.H. -- Deputy Assistant Secretary for Women's Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and Leroy Nyberg, M.D., Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health.

According the Nancy Muller, Executive Director of the National Association for Continence in Spartanburg, South Carolina, "Urinary incontinence afflicts millions of adults in the United States, at least 85 percent of whom are women. The coalition will announce its legislative as well as consumer-based goals at this event in order to advance research and treatment for those who suffer with incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction".

The Coalition For Improved Bladder and Related Pelvic Health is a diverse collaborative group of more than twenty members ranging from national health care provider associations to patient advocacy organizations, all of whom are dedicated to heightening awareness about bladder and related pelvic health to public officials, consumers, and the media. The coalition works cooperatively towards legislative, public awareness, clinical practice and outcomes research priorities with an overall purpose of improving bladder and related pelvic health for all Americans.
