Education Secretary Rod Paige To Speak At Joint Center Annual Dinner

WHAT: The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies' Annual Dinner. Over the past 32 years, the Joint Center has focused on public policy issues affecting African Americans and other minorities, and its dinner has given key figures an opportunity to speak to an audience of policymakers, corporate executives, and black elected officials. Past speakers include President George H. W. Bush, Vice President Al Gore, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Secretary of State Colin Powell, former Commerce Secretary Ronald H. Brown, and former congresswoman Barbara Jordan.

WHO: -- Keynote Speaker -- Rod Paige, U.S. Secretary of Education -- Mistress of Ceremonies -- Renee Poussaint, co-founder and executive director, National Visionary Project -- Other speakers include National Dinner Chair Daniel A. Carp, president and CEO of Eastman Kodak Company; General Dinner Committee Chair Weldon H. Latham, senior partner at Holland Knight; and Eddie N. Williams, president and CEO of the Joint Center. -- Guests will include corporate executives, business leaders, government and black elected officials, and other opinion leaders.

There will also be a special tribute to Dr. Dorothy Height, president emerit and chair of the National Council of Negro Women, on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
