Dr. Hossam Badrawi, an elected member of the Egyptian Parliament and chairman of the Committee for Education and Economic Research, is available for interviews the afternoon of FRIDAY, JUNE 27.

Dr. Badwari, who is also a professor of OB/GYN at Cairo University, can address issues pertaining to political and economic reform in Egypt, educational reforms and international intellectual property rights.

A biographical sketch of Dr. Badwari follows:

Dr. Hossam Badrawi was elected to the Egyptian Parliament in September 2002, where he has instituted policy reforms in the areas of education and health as chairman of the Committee for Education and Economic Research, and also serves on the Secretariat of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Within the NDP, he has undertaken a program to improve relationships between the party and the private sector, as well as chair the party's education committee.

Dr. Badrawi is a leader in Egypt's private health care sector, having started the first managed care company in Egypt in 1989 and the Nile Badrawi Hospital in 1982, the latter being one of the largest private hospitals in Egypt.

Dr. Badrawi serves on the board of a number of leading NGO's in Egypt. He is also an advocate for women's and children's rights.
