From: Kimberly Van Brunt of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 507-287-6006 News Advisory: How can you make 4,000 doctors fall asleep in one place? This June, sleep doctors and researchers from around the world will gather to discuss new technologies and treatments for various forms of sleeplessness -- in Seattle. This year, the Associated Professional Sleep Societies' 16th Annual Meeting -- the largest meeting on sleep medicine in the world -- is coming to Seattle for the first time in over a decade. The meeting will be held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, and features lectures, presentations, scientific symposia, and more. Research to be presented and discussed during the meeting includes topics such as post-disaster sleep disturbance, drowsy driving, and sleep fatigue in medical residents. If you suspect you have a sleep disorder or sleep problems, talk to you healthcare professional. If necessary, he or she will be able to refer you to a qualified sleep specialist. You can also assess your sleep habits online by taking a sleep quiz at http://www.aasmnet.org/symptoms.htm, or find a member accredited sleep center in Seattle (or anywhere in the country) by visiting http://www.aasmnet.org/listing.htm. The APSS 16th Annual Meeting will be held June 8-13 at the Trade Center, as well as the Sheraton Seattle and the Westin Seattle Hotels. For more information, visit http://www.apss.org. |
