Older Women's League (OWL) announces the On Wings of Leadership Awards honoring Evelyn Dubrow, Dr. Dorothy Height, Gloria Steinem, and Helen Thomas.

"Through the 'On Wings of Leadership Awards,' OWL hopes to challenge commonly held perceptions of older women," said Laurie Young, Ph.D., executive director for Older Women's League. "We want to highlight the accomplishments of those women who, through their leadership, continue to redefine what it means to be an older woman in our society."

The Gala will honor four outstanding women who have made immeasurable contributions to our society and to the lives of midlife and older women. Confirmed honorees include Evelyn Dubrow, a labor leader extraordinaire, Medal of Freedom recipient, and leader of the effort to pass civil rights and Medicare legislation; Dr. Dorothy Height, legendary civil rights leader; Helen Thomas, a nationally syndicated columnist, dean of the White House press corps, and journalist through every presidency since President John Kennedy; and Gloria Steinem, leader of the movement for women's rights and founder of Ms. magazine. Each is being honored for her exceptional achievements, among them serving as active and inspiring role models for younger women.
