News Advisory:

Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) will convene a hearing at 10:30 am (ET) Thursday, April 11, 2002 to address the need to increase funding for the global battle against HIV/AIDS with a special focus on care and treatment.

Prior to the hearing, the International AIDS Trust and the Elton John AIDS Foundation will host an invitation-only breakfast for members of Congress, African Ambassadors, and HIV/AIDS activists. There will be a brief press availability with Sir Elton John, Sandra L. Thurman and members of Congress following the breakfast and prior to the hearing.
