GREENBELT, Md., March 25 -- The Geospatial Interoperability Group at Global Science & Technology Inc. (GST) has launched a new training series in geospatial interoperability.

Geospatial interoperability addresses the challenges of sharing geospatial data among disparate systems and organizations using information technology standards. With greater than 70 percent of government and business information having some reference to location, it has become increasingly necessary to understand, access, and employ the use of geospatial data in decision making. The Geospatial Interoperability Group's training program is designed to meet this growing need.

Two courses are currently being offered: Geospatial Interoperability for Managers provides a thorough survey of the open geospatial standards that are available to technical managers for use in development and acquisition. Geospatial Interoperability for Software Engineers examines the standards and underlying technologies needed to integrate open geospatial standards in existing information systems or to incorporate them into future systems. The courses are conducted for the Federal Government, private industry, and academia.

Both courses are being offered in the Washington, D.C., area this year. Geospatial Interoperability for Managers will be held May 3-4 and Sept. 27-28, and Geospatial Interoperability for Software Engineers will be held June 7-10 and Nov. 1-4. Other dates and locations are available based on customer need. To register or find out more about either course, visit http://www.gst.com/geo or contact George Percivall at 301-474-9696.
