EVANSTON, Ill., April 8 -- Solucient and San Francisco-based Health Technology Center (HealthTech) today announced the formation of a partnership that combines HealthTech's research on emerging health care technologies with Solucient's vast quantitative public and proprietary health care data to further determine the impact of new technologies on local health care markets in the United States.

Through the partnership, hospitals will have access to quantifiable data via Web-based software that illustrates how new and emerging health care technologies affect their customers. Hospitals will be able to use this tool to estimate the impact of these new technologies on number of inpatient beds, outpatient care, and physician services. HealthTech and Solucient expect to launch the tool this summer.

"Solucient's proprietary data indicate that hospitals across the country adopt new technologies at different rates," said Chuck Leonard, Solucient CEO. "Working in partnership with HealthTech, we can identify adoption rates for new and emerging technologies at the local level to help hospitals use their capital resources appropriately and plan for the future. Solucient is delighted to partner with HealthTech and strongly values the company's commitment to quality research."

"We are pleased to expand the depth of our research on the impact of technologies to include an additional tool that our partners will be able to use for strategic and capital planning," said Molly Coye, MD, founder and CEO of HealthTech. "Providing access for Solucient clients to key segments of our research on the utilization impact of new technologies will advance our mission and meet an industry need."

Solucient client and HealthTech Partner John Doyle, senior vice president, Ascension Health, agrees.

"As a founding partner of HealthTech and a long-time Solucient client, we are intrigued by the prospect of combining HealthTech's high-quality research with in-depth market trend data provided by Solucient," Doyle said.
