WHAT: Hudson Institute and Common Cause will convene a debate on the "McConnell v. the Federal Election Commission," the federal court case on the constitutionality of the Bipartisan Federal Campaign Reform Act of 2002, also known as McCain-Feingold.

WHEN: Wednesday, Dec. 18, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Two of the lead attorneys in McConnell v. Federal Election Commission, Kenneth Starr of Kirkland and Ellis (former Solicitor General of the U.S.) and Lawrence Gold of the AFL-CIO, will debate two leading proponents of McCain-Feingold, Trevor Potter of the Reform Institute (former Chairman of the Federal Election Commission) and Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution.

The debate will focus on the two major issues of contention: McCain-Feingold's soft-money ban and issue advocacy restrictions.
