
Four American Indian Tribes Announce Major Economic Venture; Historic Partnership Breaks New Ground for American Indians 9/30/2002

Panelists will include Aurene Martin, deputy assistant secretary, Department of the Interior; Katherine Spilde, Ph.D., senior research associate from Harvard University's Project on American Indian Economic Development; Rick Hill, tribal advisor to Four Fires and former chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association; and Michael Dickens, president of Hospitality Partners. Four Fires is comprised of the Forest County Potawatomi Community of Wisconsin, the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, both of Southern California. As the first joint venture of the four tribes, the project announcement will represent the largest collaboration ever for American Indian groups.
