Pew Hispanic Center Report on Latino Dropouts for Release Thursday, June 12

The Pew Hispanic Center will release a report Thursday, June 12 that sheds new light on the nature and the size of the Hispanic dropout problem in American schools. Based on a new analysis of Census Bureau data, the report assesses the impact of immigration on the Latino dropout population and shows that the dropout rate for Hispanics who attend U.S. schools has been improving in recent years. The report also provides previously unavailable detail on the characteristics of Latino dropouts, including employment, earnings and language abilities.

The report will be released at 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday June 12, with a telephone press briefing by the report's author, Richard Fry, a senior research associate at the Pew Hispanic Center and Roberto Suro, the Center's director.
