Area Residents to Hear Homosexuality Myths Debunked Amid Warnings of Opposition; Focus on the Family Event with Former Homosexuals

Focus on the Family will feature former homosexuals at its 19th national conference in Washington, D.C. amid warnings of protests from gay activists. Much attention has been generated by ads regarding the conference that appeared in the Washington Post and Washington's City Paper, and others that were rejected by Washington, D.C.'s largest gay newspaper, The Washington Blade. Love Won Out, a one-day symposium designed to help the public navigate the myths clouding the issue of homosexuality, will take place at Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, Va. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Speakers Include:

-- Joseph Nicolosi, Ph.D., executive director, National Association of Research and Therapy of Homosexuality. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Nicolosi's professional focus for over 10 years has been the treatment of unwanted homosexuality. He is a popular speaker on the subject and author of several books, including Reparative Therapy of Male Homosexuality, Healing Homosexuality: Case Stories of Reparative Therapy, and the recently published A Parent's Guide to Preventing Homosexuality.

-- John Paulk, Love Won Out creator and policy analyst, Focus on the Family. Five years before they met, John and his wife, Anne, left homosexuality in pursuit of Jesus Christ. Both have shared their remarkable stories of transformation extensively in national and international media. The Paulks have written a book about their journey entitled Love Won Out. The Paulks have appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "60 Minutes" and in Newsweek and USA Today.

-- Amy Tracy, senior writer for the Office of the President, Focus on the Family. Amy spent 10 years in the nation's capital, part of which was spent serving as press secretary for the National Organization of Women's national headquarters. Amy shares about her struggle to leave a position of authority, and ultimately lesbianism, at colleges and universities across the country in order to bring hope, freedom and truth to college-age men and women.
