CHICAGO, Oct. 16 -- The Alzheimer's Association is partnering with one of the NFL's emerging young stars, Koren Robinson of the Seattle Seahawks, to raise money for the fight against Alzheimer's disease. "K-Rob's Milestones for Memories" campaign is raising money for the Alzheimer's Association's Western and Central Washington State Chapter through his performance on the field. In addition, Robinson hosts the family of an individual diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease during all 16 regular season games, including road games, allowing Robinson to champion the Alzheimer's cause across the country.

"Approximately 4.5 million Americans are suffering with Alzheimer's disease and nearly 20 million family members are affected by its devastation," said Sheldon Goldberg, president and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association. "We are grateful to Koren Robinson for his generous support in raising awareness and money to help families like his own who have been affected by this dreadful disease. The campaign will also help to further the association's mission to create a world without Alzheimer's."

Robinson is donating $1,000 of his own money for every touchdown scored, 100 yard receiving games, games with 10 or more receptions, and plays of 40 yards or more. Since the start of the campaign on Sept. 1, just prior to the opening game of the season, Robinson has raised $3,000 during the three games in which he's played. His goal is to raise more than $20,000 over the course of the regular season.

"This is a cause very close to my heart as I experienced the tragic effects of this disease first hand, watching my grandmother suffer with this condition until she passed away early this year," said Robinson. "I am proud of the fact that my performance on the field will help make a positive impact on the lives of people affected by this disease. Other than winning games, I can't think of a better incentive to motivate myself this season."

A native of North Carolina, Robinson left North Carolina State after his sophomore year to play in the NFL. He led the Seahawks last season with 78 catches for 1,240 yards and five touchdowns. His receiving yardage was the second-best in the Seahawk's history and NFL experts are expecting big things from him again this season.
