
Secretary Abraham to Travel to Ottawa, Canada to Meet with Prime Minister 10/15/2003
From: Jeanne Lopatto, 202-586-4940, Jana Toner, 202-586-4940, both of the U.S. Department of Energy News Advisory: Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham will travel to Ottawa, Ontario Thursday and Friday to meet with Prime Minister of Canada Jean Chretien and participate in the second meeting of the U.S./Canada Power Outage Task Force. Canadian Minister of Natural Resources Herb Dhaliwal and Secretary Abraham will conduct the meeting via conference call. While in Ottawa, Secretary Abraham will discuss international energy issues with Prime Minister Chretien and with Minister Dhaliwal. Discussions with Minister Dhaliwal will include the various energy issues of mutual interest to the countries including the International Partnership for the Hydrogen Economy and the North American Energy Working Group. From Ottawa, Secretary Abraham will fly to Schenectady, NY to visit Knoll's Atomic Power Laboratory. Knoll's is a research and development facility solely dedicated to support of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. Before heading back to Washington, Secretary Abraham will stop in Detroit to represent the Bush Administration at a reception hosted by the Arab-American Institute.
