NanoSummit in Washington, D.C., June 23-24

The Department of Energy will host a NanoSummit June 23-24 to bring together policymakers and the scientific community to share information on emerging research opportunities and priorities in nanoscale science and technology for our energy future. The NanoSummit program will include:

Wednesday, June 23:

-- Evening reception and poster presentations on opportunities and capabilities of the DOE Nanoscale Science Research Centers;

Thursday, June 24:

-- Keynote presentation by Spencer Abraham, Secretary of Energy;

-- Perspectives from John Marburger, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Senators and Representatives with oversight responsibility for science and technology;

-- Science and technology sessions with presentations from university and industry leaders on breakthrough opportunities afforded by nanoscale science in the hydrogen economy, energy efficiency and renewable energy, and energy production;

-- A special session on ethical, social, and environmental considerations of nanoscale science and technologies.
