News Advisory:

What issues will define the elections this fall? How should Democrats respond to the Karl Rove strategy of using the war for partisan advantage, while blurring the differences on domestic issues? Is there an emerging majority for progressive reform?

On Friday, June 21, at 9:30 a.m. at the National Press Club, Stanley Greenberg of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, Guy Molyneux of Peter Hart Research and Dee Brown of Lake Snell Perry and Associates, will dissect these issues, as Campaign for America's Future releases the 2002 edition of STRAIGHTTALK, the progressive issues handbook focusing on the kitchen-table topics that will determine this fall's elections.

Robert Borosage, CAF's co-director and Stan Greenberg will discuss the Rove strategy, and lay out the alternative issues and strategy that will define the 2002 political debate. Guy Molyneux will put particular focus on Social Security and how it plays in elections this fall. Dee Brown will probe the debate over health care and prescription drugs.

STRAIGHTTALK 2002 is designed to provide effective strategies for making progressive solutions to the issues facing working families the centerpiece of the political debate. It covers issues such as Social Security, Health Care, Energy Independence, Education, Corporate Accountability, and Jobs & Economic Growth. The handbook features polling data, effective language, and counter-arguments to misleading conservative rhetoric. It is available at: http://www.ourfuture.org/readarticle.asp?ID=1412.

Campaign for America's Future (http://www.ourfuture.org) develops ideas and strategy that can forge a new American majority for progressive reform. The Campaign is a vocal advocate against the privatization of Social Security, for investment in education, for affordable health care, and more.
