U.S. Labor Department Official Announces Launch of Workforce3 One; Web-Based Tool Will Promote a Demand-Driven Workforce System 6/30/2004
From: Lorette Post of the U.S. Department of Labor, 202-693-3984 WASHINGTON, June 30 -- U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training Emily Stover DeRocco today announced the launch of Workforce3 One, a webspace designed to promote the objectives of the President's High Growth Job Training Initiative. "The President's High Growth Job Training Initiative is a strategic effort to prepare workers for new job opportunities in high-growth sectors of the American economy," said DeRocco. "Workforce3 One is a way for educators and employers to interact with the public workforce system, sharing ideas and experiences to better prepare American workers for today's highly competitive economy." The result of collaboration among the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) and the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB), the Web site is a unique interactive knowledge network. The public workforce system, business and industry partners, education and training providers and economic development professionals can take advantage of live learning web-based seminars, or "webinars," continually updated research and information, discussion forums and virtual tools offered through this cyber workspace. Workforce3 One offers a wide array of tools including a research and information database to help users discover best practices and plan new services, as well as live virtual classroom sessions that provide local information about expanding industries, opportunities for partnerships, current workforce skills and skill gaps. In addition to these features, Workforce3 One also serves as a forum for online discussions and brainstorming, allowing users to ask questions, give answers, state opinions or follow up with experts after attending a webinar.
