Volunteers Needed for Seattle's First Lymphomathon

WHAT: Seattle LYMPHOMAthon 2004 Kick-Off Event. The Seattle Chapter of the Lymphoma Research Foundation will host a reception to launch the first annual LYMPHOMAthon, a 5K walk to raise funds to cure lymphoma-the most common blood cancer and the third most common cancer of childhood.

The kick-off reception will provide an opportunity for interested volunteers to network with other patients and survivors, and learn how to become involved with the LYMPHOMAthon 5-k, scheduled for August 14 at Myrtle Edwards Park in Seattle.

WHEN: Kick-Off Reception, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Free food and refreshments will be served.

WHO: LRF Seattle Chapter members and volunteers willing to help work at the 5-K walk

WHY: Nearly 500,000 Americans are affected by lymphoma.

In 2004 alone, nearly 1,300 people from Washington State will be diagnosed with lymphoma and another 500 will die from the disease.
