Clean Air Trust: The Public Fights Back Against EPA's Dirty-Air Plan 6/17/2002
From: Frank O'Donnell of the Clean Air Trust, 202-785-9625, http://www.cleanairtrust.org News Advisory: Last week, the EPA announced the biggest attempted rollback of the Clean Air Act in its 32-year history. As the Detroit Free Press put it so well, "Only the stupidest polluter wouldn't be able to find a loophole." Now, the American public is fighting back. Join a a coalition of health and environmental groups at a luncheon briefing on Wednesday, June 19, as they unveil a battle plan to fight these unprecedented rollbacks and giveaways to big-polluter special interests. (Coincidentally, this briefing will take place the same day as a massive political fundraiser that undoubtedly will be packed with free-spending polluter lobbyists.) The groups will unveil new television commercials, public opinion research and more. They will also be ready to take any and all questions about what's wrong with the EPA rollback. (Shall we start with the fact the EPA didn't even analyze the impact of its rollback on public health?) WHO: Representatives of health and environmental groups, including -- American Lung Association -- Clean Air Trust -- National Environmental Trust -- Natural Resources Defense Council -- U.S. PIRG WHERE: National Press Club, Murrow Room 529 14th St., NW Washington, D.C. WHEN: Wednesday, June 19 12 p.m., Lunch served 12:15 p.m., Briefing begins For additional information: Frank O'Donnell: 202-785-9625 |
