WHY: To Release the Status of Women in the States

The 2002 Status of Women in the States shows that women have not achieved equality with men in any state in the nation. The report chronicles disparities between the 50 states and the District of Columbia, ranking the top and bottom states in five areas: political participation, employment and earnings, social and economic autonomy, reproductive rights, and health and well-being.
