Whither the Road Map on Middle East Peace?; Charles Krauthammer, Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick to Offer Comment at Lunch Discussion 9/12/2003
From: Jennifer Butsch of the Hudson Institute, 317-549-4115 News Advisory: Hudson Institute, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, and the Center for Security Policy will co-sponsor a lunch discussion of the apparent imminent demise of the Bush administration's "Road Map" plan on Monday, Sept. 15, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hudson Institute. With the renewal of violence in the Middle East and the collapse of Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas's government, the demise of the Bush administration's "Road Map" plan appears imminent. If that is the case, what policy alternatives exist for the administration? Are there any road maps that can resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict today, or is it necessary for Palestinian society to undergo a profound political transformation before a solution can be considered? Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick is the director of Foreign and Defense Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute and the U.S. Representative for the U.N. Human Rights Commission. She has served as a member of the Defense Policy Review Board and the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. Charles Krauthammer, Pulitzer Prize winner for distinguished commentary, is a syndicated columnist for over 200 publications including The Washington Post and Time magazine. A regular weekly panelist on Inside Washington and a frequent Fox News contributor, he serves on the editorial board of several journals, including The National Interest and The Public Interest. This event is by invitation only to working journalists and policy professionals. Lunch will be served. For more information, contact Hudson Institute at 202-223-7770 or e-mail: rsvp@hudsondc.org.
