A seminar for journalists on religious issues and trends that will likely have an impact on the 2004 elections will be March 12 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

There is no cost to attend. The program is also open to interested members of the public as non-participating observers.

Featured speakers at the program are: Dr. Al Winseman, religion and values editor, The Gallup Organization, Washington D.C.; Dr. Gaston Espinosa, research director, Hispanic Churches and Public Life Study; Andrew Mellon, postdoctoral fellow, Department of Religion, Northwestern University, Evansville, Ill.; Dr. Drew Smith, director, The Public Influences of African American Churches Project, Morehouse College, Atlanta, Ga.; and Dr. Luis Lugo, director of the Pew Forum on Religion, Washington, D.C.

Seminar topics include: Religion and Politics: A Gallup Data Analysis of National Trends; Latino Religious Affiliation and Political Party Choice; The Public and Political Influences of African American Churches.

The seminar is presented by the Foundation for American Communications (FACS) in partnership with the Religion Newswriters Association.
