From: Tom Cassels, 917-439-3735, or casselt@georgetown.edu News Advisory: WHAT: The 9th Annual GPPI Conversation The discussion, titled "Sharing PRWORA: Remembering Males in Welfare Reform," will focus on the lack of focus on males in current welfare reform efforts. A panel discussion will focus on whether current policies regarding child support payments, educational and training programs, wage subsidies, and TANF eligibility may have negative impacts on the labor market experiences, and marriageability, of low-income men in the United States. Discussants will also comment on policy interventions necessary to help at-risk populations affected by welfare reform (i.e., the Bush administration's marriage proposal, promoting fatherhood initiatives, extending the EITC to non-custodial fathers, etc.).
