
State Legislative Leaders to Meet with Federal Counterparts 2/10/2004
From: Bill Wyatt, 202-624-8667 or Gene Rose, 303-856-1518; both of the National Conference of State Legislatures News Advisory: Top state legislative leaders will meet with authorities from inside the beltway at the National Conference of State Legislatures' Leader to Leader meeting March 10 - 12, 2004 in Washington, D.C. Confirmed speakers for the 2004 Leader to Leader meeting include U.S. Representatives Nancy Pelosi (CA), William Delahunt (MA) and Ernest Istook (OK) as well as Newt Gingrich, Alice Rivlin and CNN's Bill Schneider. In addition to the confirmed speakers, NCSL will present its prestigious Restoring the Balance award to several U. S. senators for their leadership in the enactment of the states' $20 billion fiscal relief package last year. Those senators include Susan Collins (ME), Ben Nelson (NE), Jay Rockefeller (WV), Gordon Smith (OR) and Olympia Snowe (ME). All sessions will be open to members of the media. However, in years past the White House program has been held at the White House. Should that be the case this year, the White House program will be closed to the press.
